ABSTRACT
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease or disorder with multiple etiology that is characterized by high blood sugar levels with impaired metabolism of carbohydrates , lipids , and proteins as a result of insufficiency of insulin function . In 2014 the total number of patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 amounted to 75 people , in the District Pesawaran into third place in the province of Lampung is 0.9 % . In Lampung Province in 2013 reached 0.8 % Regencies city . In Indonesia diabetics currently at 5.7 % ( approximately 12 million people ) of the entire population of Indonesia .
This research is an analytical study using case control design approach where the population used is an outpatient health center gedong Tataan 2015 . Acidental sampling using sampling and obtained 70 respondents Analysis of the data used in this study is the univariate and bivariate data , This research using chi square test.
The results using a standard ( p - value = 0.05 ) , which means that there is test showed that were related with type 2 DM evidence are smoking (p value = 0,016 OR=3,75), and physical activity (p-value;0,008, OR=4,333). a relationship of smoking and physical activity with incident type 2 diabetes in a health center gedong Settings, Researchers suggest that early detection is always done to crawl DM .
